Daniel Johnston Tribute Show

Our first event was success! We came together 1/22/23 (Daniel's Birthday / Hi, How Are You Day) at Cult Classic in Stevensville, MD to celebrate Daniel Johnston’s life & music with a focus on sparking the conversation around mental health. Local businesses donated raffle items & together we raised $1681 for The Hi How Are You Project. Maryland musicians Daphne Eckman, Gage Rhodes, Carly Winter, Rabbits Anonymous, Future Country, & Skribe donated cover sets . Leading up to the concert, each artist was asked to record a voice memo or phone recording of a song they were working on. I captured audio at the event & casually interviewed people in the crowd about mental health. I will be splicing it all together for a limited run cassette release. Here's a peek at the WIP. -Aaron

Another Year

DAPHNE ECKMAN

Last winter, I heard Daphne Eckman play this song & it melted me. Winter blues, seasonal depression, whatever you call it...this song perfectly represented the flipside of the holiday cheer so many of us battle with this time of year. We set up some mics in an old barn  & Daphne started playing. Her 3rd take made everyone’s hair stand up. I added bass + ebow & we sent it off to John Baldwin for mastering in Nashville, TN. - Aaron

Limited pressing emerald green DAPHNE ECKMAN / SKRIBE split release.

SKRIBE

The first 3EGC production! I wrote, recorded, mixed, & played every sound on this Skribe track in my late brother's bedroom while isolating with covid. I used a mobile recording setup that breaks down into a few vintage suitcases. The misfit instruments featured on this track include: fretless ukulele bass, a propane tank (turned steel drum by my friend Kevin Martin) , the keys to my van, e-bow , a 3-string CrocBite Guitars "hamjo", some pickling spice as a shaker, & an acoustic guitar I found on Craigslist for $25.

Big thanks to Mat at Mobtown Studio (Baltimore, MD) for mastering & big thanks to Shea at Sweetfoot Studio (Easton, MD) for getting me started with Reaper DAW.

The cover art is a Tintype photograph by Robbie Stilwell (Nashville, TN). I remember that day clearly. It was hot as hell, I ran sound for a band, played a set, & airbrushed shirts at Nikki Lane 's High Class Hillbilly market in East Nashville. Robbie was doing his thing a few booths down & he was able to squeeze me in for this shot before we packed down for the day.
