In October 2023, I played a few shows in Canada opening for Cam Cole. I spent an off Tuesday in Ottawa scouting out the local scene for some live music. I stumbled into a folk circle that met after-hours in a local coffeehouse. We shared some songs and they pointed me to Irene's for The Sunday Night Revue. When Birdie Whyte took the stage, all of the musicians on the lineup backed her for a set that made the hair on my arms stand up. We recorded 2 one-takes in the back room of Irene's while the bartenders were cleaning up.
